Everyone should get their eyes checked. Here’s what to expect from your visit.

Optometry Check UpDuring your eye exam, you will undergo a series of tests to check your vision while also evaluating the health of your eyes. As with any health problem, the sooner our Wyomissing optometrist detects a disorder or issue with the eyes the easier it often is to treat. By coming in for regular eye exams you give us the opportunity to correct problems as soon as possible to improve your vision and the health of your eyes for the future.

Who should get an eye exam?

Even children as young as three years old will have their vision tested to look for issues such as a lazy eye or crossed eyes, which are rather common. In some instances, you can start bringing your child in for routine eye exams in Wyomissing, PA, between the ages of three and five.

It’s important that your child has their vision checked before they start school. If there are no issues, our Wyomissing, PA, eye doctor will determine whether they should come in for eye exams once a year or once every two years.

If you are an adult who doesn’t have any eye problems then you won’t have to come in as often as someone who does. A good schedule to follow when it comes to eye exams includes,

  • Coming in every 5-10 years for patients in their 20s and 30s
  • Coming in every 2-4 years for patients 40 to 54 years of age
  • Coming in every 1-3 years for patients between the ages of 55 to 64
  • Coming in every 1-2 years for patients over the age of 65

Of course, if you have a family history of eye disease, if you have certain health conditions that could also affect the health of your eyes (e.g. diabetes) or if you wear glasses or contact lenses, then you will need to come in more frequently (usually once a year).

What is involved in a routine eye exam?

You will undergo a series of different tests and exams to check the health of your eyes. Certain tests include:

  • Eye muscle test
  • Visual acuity test
  • Refraction assessment
  • Visual field test
  • Color vision testing
  • Slit-lamp exam
  • Retinal exam
  • Glaucoma screening

Is it time to schedule a routine eye exam for you or a member of your family? Are you experiencing any changes in your vision or other symptoms? If you said “yes” to either of these questions then it’s the perfect time to call Linsey EyeCare in Wyomissing, PA, to schedule an appointment.

Testimonial

I have been coming to Linsey Eyecare for years and have always had the best experience, specifically with eyecare and contact lenses.

The selection was everything I heard it was. Thanks for a great experience.

Bought 2 pairs of glasses. The office was clean and the staff was extremely helpful. I would recommend this to anyone.
